Panaji, Jun 28 (IANS): Goa Governor P. S. Sreedharan Pillai on Wednesday extended his greetings to the people, the Muslim brethren in particular, on the occasion of Id-Ul-Zuha.
In his message, the Governor said, “Id-ul-Zuha” (Bakri-Id) is celebrated in the spirit of sacrifice and benevolence with great fervour and gaiety in India and the world. This festival is also called as the “Feast of sacrifice”.
He further said that Goa is blessed with a diverse population wherein every festival is celebrated with equal passion.
"This is a very appropriate occasion for us to remember that all religions preach the universal values of love, peace and brotherhood," He said.
"On this holy and pious occasion, let us all renew our pledge to live together in peace, amity, friendship and mutual understanding. May the celebrations of Id-Ul-Zuha (Bakri-Id) this year bring greater peace, happiness and unity among the people, he concluded," Pillai further said.
