Mangaluru, Jun 23: World Music Day, which advocates for the influence of music and its universal ability to connect people, was celebrated at the Expert Pre University College Valachil auditorium.

Speaking on the occasion, Ankush N Nayak, IT director, of Expert Group of Institutions and also a noted sitarist said that music has had immense influence on human life since time immemorial.

Classical music is being used in Western cinema and there should be a similar approach towards classical music in Indian cinema as well. He spoke on the origin and importance of the instruments sitar and tabla.

Later, Ankush N Nayak enthralled the audience with his performance on sitar. Ashay Kalavantkar accompanied him on tabla.

Dr  N K Vijayan Karippal, principal; Gurudat N, coaching head; Nithin Manohar, assistant coaching head; Anitha P Shetty, SWO and Rakshith K from the department of Maths were present on the occasion.
