Mangaluru: St Agnes PU College commemorates 103rd Foundation Day

Mangaluru, Jun 22: St Agnes PU College is a prestigious educational institution known for its commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. Established in June 1920 by Founder Mother M Aloysia A C with a vision to nurture women of strength and excellence, St Agnes PU College has been a beacon of knowledge and inspiration for generations of students.

On June 22, this year, the College celebrated its 103rd Foundation Day to commemorate the visionary efforts of Mother Aloysia. The programme was organized with great enthusiasm and reverence, highlighting the values and principles upon which the institution was built.

The event commenced with a melodious and soulful prayer song by Ashwitha and group. A warm and heartfelt welcome speech was delivered by Anjali Rai. Leona Dsouza emphasized the significance of the day. As a mark of respect and reverence, flowers were offered on the portrait of Mother Aloysia.

The chief guest, Pavithra Jyothigudde, centre convenor at Samvada, Youth Resource Centre, Mangaluru delivered an inspiring speech, highlighting the importance of girl’s education and stressed that thirst for knowledge plays an important role in leading a successful life.

One of the most heartwarming moments of the celebration was the distribution of school bags to the students of St Agnes Kannada Medium Higher Primary School sponsored by staff, students and well-wishers. The smiling faces of the young recipients filled the hall with a sense of joy and hope.

Gowthami and team performed a captivating dance drama which gave a glimpse of Mother Aloysia’s vision on educating the girl child.

The principal Sr Norin Dsouza, vice principal Sr Janet Sequeira, headmistress of St Agnes Kannada Medium Higher Primary School Sr Jyotsna, convenors of the programme Pragati Alva and Teena Dsouza, the faculty and students were present for the programme.

Anika Patrao compered the programme.

The event concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Jane Olivera, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the Foundation Day celebration. It was indeed a joyous Foundation Day.
