Udupi, Jun 22: Investiture ceremony and Inauguration of Clubs at St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady was held on June 17 in the school auditorium. The leaders elected through democratic electoral procedure were officially designated to various portfolios during the ceremony.
The ceremony commenced with a prayer and the ceremonial lighting of the auspicious lamp. The school council members and the leaders of various Clubs marched orderly in sync with the splendid school band to receive their official badges. Principal Fr Johnson Sequeira administered the oath of office to the newly elected head boy, head girl and the speaker. Later the various ministers of the school council and the leaders of various houses, clubs were sworn in to their portfolios by taking the pledge administered by the speaker Shane D'Souza.
The correspondent honoured the elected leaders with sashes and badges. The student leaders shared the candle light symbolizing the integrity and the harmony of the school parliament. The head boy Mohammed Saad Habib and the head girl K Surabhi Rao in their first official speech thanked the voters and promised to fulfil their responsibilities in accordance with the vision and the mission of the school.
Chief Guest Abhilasha S, the principal of SMS English Medium School, Brahmavar in her speech advised students to be sensible leaders and deepen democratic values in the school atmosphere. The correspondent Fr Charles Menezes in his presidential address said that leadership qualities must be utilized towards the well-being of humanity.
The secondary section coordinator Usha Hegde welcomed the gathering by introducing the chief guest. Yuktha and Denzil of grade IX anchored the programme. The assistant head boy Alister D'Souza and assistant head girl Vihana Raechel proposed the vote thanks.
