Mangaluru: St Agnes CBSE School celebrates International Yoga Day

Mangaluru, Jun 22: The International Yoga Day 2023 was celebrated at St Agnes CBSE school on June 21 . The students presented a splendid programme to commemorate this day. This years theme ‘YOGA FOR VASUDHAIVA KUTUMBAKAM’- one Earth, one family, one future was highlighted. This day aims to raise awareness about the physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of practising yoga.

Chethana Ajith Kumar, the academic director of Chira Educational Trust was the chief guest and resource person of the day. She is a versatile person bearing 32 years of basic practice of yoga and 16 years of experience of teaching yoga to students. She also conducts various sessions and awareness talks on the benefits of Yoga to various organisations. She was accompanied by Pavitra who is also a yoga instructor by profession.

The programme began with a devotional prayer song followed by a spectacular welcome dance. Students extended a formal welcome to the gathering. The significance of the day was presented through a Mime show that showcased the importance of exercise in the life of students.

Chetana highlighted the importance of Yoga and the necessity of keeping oneself calm and at peace by practicing the various asanas in everyday life. She urged the students to practice yoga daily and emphasised on the various benefitsof doing yoga every day. Students participated enthusiastically while Pavitra demonstrated various yoga asanas.

On this occasion the winners of the spell bee competition were honoured. Around 409 students hadtaken part in the same. The school too is honoured with Excellence Principal Award and Savitha has been honoured with Excellence Teacher Award. Chetana did the honours of presenting the winners with medals and certificates.

The programme was compered by Stesha D’Souza. Joanna Rego welcomed the gathering and the vote of thanks was proposed by Janicia Saldanha.

The management congratulated the principal, staff and students for organising the event and educating students on benefits of yoga.

Yoga is addition of energy, strength and beauty to body, mind and soul.
