Puttur, Jun 21: St Philomena College, St Philomena PU College, St Philomena aided High School, NCC and NSS units jointly celebrated the 9th International Yoga Day at SJM Hall of the College with yoga demonstrations for a duration of 75 minutes.
As many as 150 students from the above said streams practised yoga on the serene morning of the day thereby experiencing the devine pleasure derived from the exercise which helps in keeping the mindfulness always at its best.
Fr Antony Prakash Monteiro, principal of the college presided over the short formal ceremony and said that mindfulness and meditation positively help in the culmination of body, soul and mind. He also pointed out the importance of understanding the theme of International Yoga Day where the necessity of cleansing the minds which deprive us from the enjoyment of purity of mind and soul hence practice yoga for joyful living.
Fr Stany Pinto, campus director St Philomena College and Fr Maxim D’Souza, head master St Philomena High School participated as the guests of honour.
Lt Johnson Davi Sequeira welcomed. NSS volunteer Zainuddin II BBA proposed vote of thanks. NCC Naval Wing officer of the college Thejaswi Bhat compered the programme. NSS officer Pushpa was present on the occasion.
