Mangaluru, Jun 17: Kannada movie ‘Bera’ depicts the communal hostility and violence that takes place in Kalladka, a town situated in the coastal region of Karnataka. Bera is directed by Vinu Balanja and is produced by Divakar Das.

The film revolves around two characters, Saleem and Vishnu played by Yash Shetty and Rakesh Maiyya respectively who, being good friends, belong to two different communities. While both of them work to promote and protect the cultural heritage of their area, the society despises seeing them together and wants them to be killed for their own benefits. The museum that Saleem owns acts as an inspiration to the storyline.

Director Vinu Balanja has taken an apt reality subject that is based on the communal tensions prevailing in the region. The on-screen chemistry between the lead characters played by Yash Shetty and Rakesh Maiyya is engaging and worth watching for their natural performances.

Swaraj Shetty, Suman Talwar, Harihar Gundurao, Shine Shetty and Harshika Poonacha have also done complete justice to their roles.

While the film was shot in Kalladka which makes it even more appealing to the audiences as the setting and the use of local dialect adds to the authenticity of the movie. The unpredictable climax gives the audience a hard hitting message that goes out to promote social harmony.

The movie, along with pointing out the issues faced in the region, also promotes religious harmony. The movie is a must watch for the audiences.
