Udupi, May 19: Tourists and devotees visiting the popular Sri Krishna Math here are suffering from the stink of garbage piles.
Piles of garbage near the temple auditorium entrance where religious and cultural programmes are regularly held spoils the beauty of the pilgrim centre and has thus become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. It has also become a black spot for Udupi. Thousands of devotees visit the temple every day.
It is ironic that people of Udupi who conduct Swaccha Bharath campaigns have turned a blind eye to the stench near the temple.
The garbage needs to be cleared before the upcoming rainy season. People have urged the municipal council authorities and the concerned to ensure that such incidents do not occur in future.
