Bangalore, Jul 9: For once, the state's two political heavyweights had smiles, and not allegations to throw at each other.
On Friday July 8, the meeting between chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and JD(S) supremo Deve Gowda is said to have ended on a high note, with no sparks flying from either side.
Deve Gowda, who was welcomed by the CM with a bouquet and a handshake, in fact termed the meeting 'satisfactory' and was all praises for the CM for responding positively to his demands.
"The chief minister directed his officials to take immediate action on the issues I raised before him, and set a deadline of one week for action on some other issues. I thank the chief minister for giving us a patient hearing," Gowda told reporters after the meeting.
The two-hour meeting was held at Yeddyurappa's office 'Krishna' in the presence of cabinet ministers and top officials. Gowda's son and MLA Revanna, Congress MLA from Hassan A Manju and JD(S) legislators were also present.
JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy, however, did not attend.
Deve Gowda's main complaint against the chief minister was that the government was not releasing funds for the development of his home district Hassan. Gowda on June 27 had staged a day-long dharna in front of the CM's residence alleging him of neglecting development works in Hassan. He had demanded action on 15 issues, including those pertaining to funds for Hassan Medical College, a nursing college and Hassan Engineering College.
