Mangaluru, Apr 29: The valedictory programme and certification of ‘Ghumat Amche Daiz’, a 30 hour certificate course in Konkani folklore culture organized by Mangalore University Konkani Adhyayana Peeta and Milagres College was held on April 29 at Milagres College Auditorium.
Chief guest Roshan Pinto, principal of Alva’s Homeopathy College, congratulated the participants of Ghumat workshop. He said that Ghumat is a traditional art form which has to be continued by the young generation.
Correspondent of Milagres Educational Institutions Fr Bonaventure Nazareth presided over the programme and in his message he congratulated the participants of this certificate course.
Principal of Milagres College Fr Michael Santhumayor, coordinator of Mangalore University Konkani Adhyayana Peeta Dr Jayavanth Nayak, former president of Karnataka Konkani Sahithya Academy Roy Castelino, coordinator of Konkani Institute of St Aloysius College Jokim Pinto, Ghumat artiste Valerian Moras, Rolwin Moras, Maxim Mathias, Gilbert Monterio, Walter Rego, Denis and Jasmin Lobo were present.
Ghumat performance was given by the student trainees, Kulshekar, Kinnigoli and Bantwal Ghumat groups. Certificates were awarded to 65 students who had completed the course.
Tressy Pinto, coordinator welcomed the gathering and proposed the vote of thanks. Denson D’Silva student coordinator compered the programme.
