Moodbidri, Apr 29: A survey report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) India and Karnataka Election Watch said that BJP MLA Umanath A Kotian from Moodbidri, stood third in terms of asking questions in the Assembly.
MLA Kotian had asked a total of 502 questions, including 24 oral and 478 written questions.
A 'no-nonsense' people's representative, Kotian had once lashed out at the functioning style of a minister belonging to his own party which is in power in the state. He had also urged the state government to name Mangaluru airport after Koti-Chennayya.
MLAs from coastal Karnataka, MLA Rajesh U Naik from Bantwal (93% attendance and 142 questions), D Vedavyasa Kamath from Mangaluru City North (91% attendance, 146 questions), Y Bharath Shetty from Mangaluru City North (85% attendance and 153 questions), and Harish Poonja from Beltangady (80% attendance and 124 questions) have performed well according to the survey.
Also, Sanjeev Matandoor attending the sessions for 148 days, B M Sukumara Shetty from Byndoor attended the session for 137 days and asked 360 total questions, Lalaji R Mendon from Kaup had 87% attendance and asked 120 questions, and K Raghupati Bhat from Udupi secured 78% attendance and posed 335 questions. However, the performance of theses legislators did not help them get ticket from the BJP for the 2023 elections to the Legislative Assembly.
