Panaji, Jul 7: A state government agency on Wednesday July 6 announced that filmmakers who shoot in the state will have to pledge not to taint the reputation of the place.

All companies will have to submit a synopsis assuring that the movie will not spoil Goa's image.

The Entertainment Society of Goa has been demanding the submission of synopsis for the past couple of years.

The ESG has demanded a new decalration in the synopsis following the portrayal of Goa as a hub for sex, crime and drugs in the movie 'Dum Maaro Dum' starring Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Bipasha Basu.

ESG chief Manoj Srivatsava said that the the declaration is renewed because tourists should not be under the impression that one can do anything in Goa.

Goa, which has been a favourite for filmmakers has suffered negative publicity  in recent years following the death of a British teenager and alleged links between drug gangs and police.

The murder of the British teenager Scarlett Keeling is being filmed into a movie called 'Anjuna Beach' promising to tell the real story. However, it is learnt that the filmmakers have not been warned or informed about the new declaration.

Srivatsava said that a complaint can be filed against production companies who have shot in Goa without permission and without paying Rs 10,000 daily fee.
