Mangalore, Jul 3: The compound wall of a house belonging to one Deepak at Pais Hill, below SP’s bungalow at Lady Hill here was damaged when the adjacent hillock caved in. The incident took place on Sunday July 3 at around 11.30 am.
A three-year-old child who was near the compound wall luckily moved away just before it collapsed due to the impact of the landslip. Stones rolling down the hillock hit the wall as well the rear door of the house, said Deepak while speaking to daijiworld.
He added that they have been staying in the same house for 17 years and had earlier appealed to the superintendent of police to arrange for the construction of reclining wall as their house was facing danger.

Mangalore city corporation commissioner Dr K N Vijay Prakash arrived on the spot, accompanied by mayor Praveen and an engineer. He assured that repair works will be undertaken soon, and added that as a temporary measure sand bags will be placed to fill the void where the landslip occured.
