Doha : Karnataka Muslim Association Launches Toastmasters Club


Doha, Jul 3 (Gulf Times): KMCA members and the newly elected office-bearers pose for a group photo Karnataka Muslim Cultural Association (KMCA) has opened a Toastmasters club for the communication, personality and leadership skills development of their members.

To facilitate and to understand what Toastmasters is all about, the KMCA excom and the sponsoring club ICC-One Toastmasters organised a demo meeting at Maaza restaurant near the Airport signal, which was followed by a dinner. During the demo meeting, some 25 members enrolled to become chartered members.

Toastmasters, Ahmed Saeed Assadi, Ravi Kumar and Rahiman Sab performed a number of activities for the audience during the meeting, which was attended by KMCA general secretary Munir Ahmed, the sergeant at arms Ameen Pasha and ICC-One Toastmasters president Ashfaque Deshmukh and Syed Abdul Hye.

At the meet, toastmaster Swaminathan presented a speech that was evaluated by Saquib Raza Khan, while toastmaster Ruben Devadas presented his project 4 evaluated by S K Naidu.
The advance project “Humorously Speaking” was delivered by Surendra Kumar which was evaluated by M I Farid.

The table topic master Ashfaque Deshmukh conducted a session on impromptu speaking.
During the event, elections for new office-bearers were conducted and the following people became the chartered executive officers for the term July 2011 to June 2012: President: CA P Rahiman Sab, vice president (Education and Training)  Saquib Raza Khan , Public Relation-Iqbal Manna, VP (membership)-Munir Ahmed, secretary-Mohsin Sikander, treasurer-Mumtaz Hussain and sergeant at arms-Mohamed Taha.
