Tumkur, Jul 1: A youth, who was in the habit of filing frivolous complaints with the police, hurt MLA Sogadu Shivanna, in the chest by hurling a brick at him when the MLA, who has been in the list of ministerial aspirants since long, was moving towards his home in his car. The incident occurred at Rangapura, located in the outskirts of the town on Thursday June 30.
The miscreant has been identified as Mahesh (29), a local man. The youth, who was arrested, told the policemen that he had visited the legislator’s office with a list of demands some days back.
Superintendent of police, T R Suresh, said that the man had been pestering the MLA to make him the Prime Minister.
In the past, Mahesh had also complained to the policemen of his research paper on a subject having been stolen by unknown thieves using satellites from outer space, said district superintendent of polie, T R Suresh. The policemen are examining the possibility of the man being mentally deranged.
The injury, caused by the splinters of the window glasses of the car, was minor in nature. The MLA was extended first aid at the government hospital in the town. Shivanna said he was fine, and that he found no reason to believe that it was a conspiracy hatched by his adversaries.
When policemen approached the MLA initially, he said he was not aware who Mahesh is, and that he was not willing to file an official complaint. However, after some time, he felt the attack could be the result of a grudge someone might be nursing against him. The policemen have accordingly, registered a complaint and begun their investigation.
