Mangalore, Jun 30: A city bus on route number 33 from Akash Bhavan to State Bank rammed against an auto rickshaw and a Tata Sumo and damaged the compound wall of a house, here on Thursday June 30.
The surprise element was that it had been parked in neutral gear and began moving on its own.
This is the third such instance reported in the city. On June 19, a parked lorry had moved and fallen into a gorge, and on June 29, a new Swift plunged into the backwaters of Bunder Port. In all three incidents, the drivers had parked the vehicles in neutral gear and gone off.
Police sources informed that as the bus was in neutral gear it began to move on a slope.
The driver of the auto was lucky to escape as he jumped out of his vehicle and out of the path of the moving bus. His auto, however, rolled over. The bus also hit a parked two-wheeler near the house.
