Bangalore, Jun 29: Joining issue with the ruling BJP for its allegations revealed in a ''chargesheet" released in Bangalore on Tuesday that the family of former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda had amassed ''illegal wealth worth over Rs 1,500 crore," the elder son of Deve Gowda and JD(S) legislature party leader H D Revanna on Wednesday openly challenged the B S Yeddyurappa regime to order any type of probe and seize all illegal properties.
Reacting to the 55-page chargesheet released by the BJP national spokesperson Nirmala Seetharaman, in the presence of State BJP president K S Eshwarappa and Energy and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Shobha Karndlaje, Revanna said he as well as family members of Deve Gowda were ready to face any type of probes, including ''a panel headed by Opposition Leader in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj and former deputy prime minister and BJP leader L K Advani."
Revanna, who is a former minister, claimed that the Deve Gowda family had not encroached lands in Hassan or any other districts of the State.
''The chargesheet released by BJP has no documents to substantiate charges. It is nothing but a pack of lies," the JD(S) leader said.
It may be recalled that the former prime minister had dared the BJP to refer all allegations against him and any of his family members as also all the charges against Yeddyurappa to the CBI. ''Let the people know who is corrupt and who is clean instead of this kind of vicious campaign," Deve Gowda said on Tuesday itself.
He contended that the Government has been losing mass support due to various scams and corruption charges against the Chief Minister and other ministers as also on account of faulty and anti-poor policies and to divert attention of the people.
''The BJP is trying to level these baseless charges against JD(S) leaders without providing any tangible proof to substantiate," Revanna said pointing out that various BJP leaders had been leveling these same charges but could not do anything more or prove them.
''If the ruling BJP and the Government is serious, let them order any kind of probe and nail us," Revanna said. ''They cannot silence us by this kind of unsubstantiated campaign of leveling charges and not proving them. People are wise and can judge for themselves," he asserted.
The JD(S) leader alleged that assistant commissioners and tahsildars of Ramangaram and Hassan districts have been transferred frequently to deny benefits of the government schemes to farmers and the poor people.
Implementation of development works and schemes announced in the State Budget have been paralysed on account of unstable administration in all taluks of Hassan and Ramangaram districts, Revanna alleged.
