Panaji, Apr 5: Goa Legislative Assembly speaker Ramesh Tawadkar urged children and youths to read literature books and adopt creative writings to start honing their skill.

Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar was speaking after releasing a Marathi collection of poems named as ‘Saee’ penned by noted lyricist Sanjay Borkar. The programme was held in Porvorim. President of Gomantak Marathi Bhasha Parishad Dr Madhu Godkirekar, publisher Abhay Naik, Maschindra Shirodkar and others were present on the occasion.

He said that books not only show the correct path of life, but also help to add happiness in life. “We should read vivid forms of literature and in all the languages we know. This helps to get acquainted with culture, tradition and history of other regions,”

He added “Even I feel that books from other languages should be translated into regional languages, so the people can read them. Those who are connoisseurs in translation should take up this task and help the literature field to grow.”

He said that parents and teachers should encourage their children and student community to read the books and should focus on creative writings. Sanjay Borkar has five books, including one in English and around 70 songs to his credit. ‘Saee’ is his first Marathi poetry book.

Referring to the statement of Ramesh Tawadkar, writer Dr Madhu Godkirekar said that it is very important that we imbibe qualities of book reading and writing in our children at early age. “This really helps when one struggles to achieve desired goals,” Godkirekar said.

Sanjay Borkar said that his Marathi poetry book is about some life experiences he shares with a girl named ‘Saee’ in the book. “I enjoyed writing short poems, which I tried for the first time in Marathi,” Borkar said.
