Mangalore, Jun 29: The family members of Razia and Zuha Fathima, who were brutally killed by an unidentified person on Tuesday June 28, are finding it difficult to come to terms with the tragedy.
The victims were buried late night on June 28. On Wednesday June 29, police arrived at their residence in Panji Mogeru to conduct an in-depth investigation into the matter in order to trace the killer as soon as possible.
Mohammed Siraj, a brother of Razia suspected that this brutal act could have been carried out by a person known to their family, as Razia used to be careful and peep through the window before opening the door to any stranger. She would allow only known people inside the house, he said.
Another relative, Ibrahim Khaleel, who was also in deep grief said that killing an innocent woman and a 7-year-old girl cannot be tolerated by anyone in a civilised society. He added that the area in particular is notorious for illegal activities like drugs and rowdism. He said they believe in police and but will be consoled only once the murderer is traced.
He recalled that the house was built just a year ago and Zuha Fathima was a brilliant girl at school and active in every extra-curricular activity. Zuha’s brother Zahid’s first birthday was celebrated on June 10. Little Zahid was weaned only a few months ago when his parents went on Hajj, the relatives said.
Razia’s husband Hameed who is in a state of shock and grief said he did not have any enemies.
Speaking to daijiworld, police said that investigation is on in full swing, and assured that the killer will be traced soon.
Victoria English Medium School, Ladyhill, where Zuha was a student, declared a day's holiday in her memory.
