Bangalore: Government Decides to Return 1,400 Acres Notified for MSEZ

Bangalore, Jun 27: Sources said that a high level meeting held at the residence of Chief Minister, Yeddyurappa, on Sunday June 26, decided to denotify around 1,400 acres of land locagted in villages around Mangalore, which was proposed to be used for the second phase of Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ).
This in affect indicates that the fight launched by the owners of this land under the leadership of Sri Vishweshwarateertha Swamiji of Pejavar Mutt will turn out to be successful. An order in this connection is expected to be issued soon.
It may be recalled that the affected persons had expressed their impatience at the government’s inaction in taking a decision in this connection early, although it had promised long back to do the needful. The Swamiji had also warned the government that he would undertake indefinite fast relating to this issue from July 13 onwards.
Senior leaders of the party including BJP state president, K S Eshwarappa, minister, Dr V S Acharya, and others, apart from some leaders of the Sangh Parivar had taken part in the discussions, it is learnt.
It is also gathered that the meeting decided to form a committee of experts on the ill-affects of the thermal power plant of Udupi Power Corporation Ltd near Padubidri. The committee will also conduct a detailed study about the adverse affects of the fly ash on the lives of the people around the plant. This was also one of the demands put forth by Pejavar Swamiji.
