Udupi, Mar 19: Srimathi Shetty (65), a woman from Byndoor, had to flee her home due to her son's harassment, fearing for her life. She was later admitted to the Sakhi One Centre in Udupi with the help of social worker Vishu Shetty.
The woman's husband has passed away, and her son is responsible for taking care of the family. However, instead of fulfilling his duties, he has become a bully towards his mother. He not only subjected her to daily attacks but also attempted to kill her. Despite seeking help from the police, the mother did not receive any assistance.
After leaving her home, Srimathi Shetty sought the help of Vishu Shetty, who recognized the severity of the situation. Vishu Shetty promptly contacted the seniors' helpline and arranged for the woman to be admitted to the Sakhi Centre.
The woman was facing financial difficulties and had to rely on a monthly interest of Rs 4,000 from a bank deposit. Her son's relentless harassment was targeted towards extorting this money from her. Srimathi Shetty decided to seek society's help to lead a peaceful life, free from her abusive son.
It is a child's responsibility to take care of their parents, and legal action can be taken against those who neglect or mistreat their parents. Vishu Shetty demanded that the authorities concerned take this case seriously and provide justice to the aggrieved mother.
