Udupi, March 16: A two-year-old girl died after consuming a pill prescribed by a doctor.
Bihar-based Raj Kumar, a daily wager has been staying with his wife and children in an accommodation of an agricultural farm owned by Sakleshpura resident N R Vivek at Hebbaru Bettu, Aroor village.
Their two-year-old daughter Khushi was down with fever and stomach pain on March 15. When they approached the primary health centre, the doctor gave them a syrup and asked them to give her the half tablet that was remaining out of the medicine given a week ago.
The parents of the child heated the milk bought by them a week ago, made it cold and gave it to the child. They also gave her five ml of the syrup along with the powdered half a tablet and some milk before putting her to sleep.
Khushi became seriously sick at about 3 pm and she was rushed to Brahmavar community health centre. At 7.30 pm, the doctor declared that the child had died.
A police complaint under Brahmavar police station UDR 20/2023 section 174(3) and ( iv) CRPC has been registered in the police station.
