Bangalore: KE Network Meeting Features Cancer Talk, Medical Camp

Bangalore, Jun 20: Kanara Entrepreneurs (KE) organized a network meeting recently at The Grand Magrath Hotel, Magrath Road, Bangalore. Robinson D’Souza, president, KE, gave the welcome address wherein he said, “Successful people don’t achieve success on their own. They surround themselves with a well-developed and sophisticated supportive network. In a world that grows more complex and more competitive each day, networking is necessary not only for survival but for high achievement “
During the event, Dr Anthony V Pais, MS, FICS, senior consultant, breast oncology unit, and head of the department of surgery-academic affairs, Mazumdar Shaw Cancer Centre, Bangalore, gave a talk on ‘Cancer and You’.
He said that today there are 14 million cancer cases worldwide and 70 percent of them are in developing countries. “In India we see 2.5 million cases per year with 8 lac new cases and 5.5 lac deaths due to cancer, of which 70 percent are in an advanced stage,” added Dr Pais.
He spoke about the various symptoms of cancer to look out for and offered tips for prevention of the disease. Dr Pais said that healthy food habits can go a long way in preventing the occurrence of cancer.
Adrian D’Souza and Clarence Pereira, lead members of KE, and directors of Deccan Group of Companies with a turnover of over Rs 150 crore and an employee strength of over 800, shared their experience of entrepreneurship from 1982.
A medical check-up camp was also organized by KE and all the participants underwent preliminary tests and made use of the facility.
