M'lore: Energy Ministry Under Me Enjoys Supreme Public Confidence - Karandlaje

Mangalore, Jun 18: Minister for energy Shobha Karandlaje on Saturday June 18 claimed that the ministry under her is enjoying the public confidence that can be said the supreme in past ten years.
She was speaking after laying foundation stone for KEB Engineers' Association’s zonal office building to be set up at Kavoor area formally by unveiling a plaque at a stage programme held at Lions Club Building, Mallikatta here. Claiming that there is enough power storage in the state for uninterrupted supply, Shobha said that it was lack of power stations and problems in service lines that has hindered the supply. To mitigate the problem, the government has decided to construct 167 new stations across the state this year after allocating the required fund in the coming budget session Belgaum district alone will have 27 stations, she added.
Minister said that in the current year, Mescom will recruit 411 linemen and moreover 2,500 linemen will recruited across the state purely on merit basis.
Stressing that Mescom has been able to provide 3 phase current for more than six hours a day, minister called upon all the officers to respond to the consumers by attending phone calls promptly. She also said that the employees' demands like regularization of 2007 batch recruited employees and revision of pay scale among others will be addressed. She assured that Escoms will be rejuvenated in another two years.
About the zonal office building of the association, minister said this was city's long pending demand. While, Bangalore already has it, Mysore will have its own engineers association’s zonal building with the inauguration on Monday June 20.
The upcoming zonal office building at Kavoor area will be constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crore and comprise auditorium, four rooms, food and accommodation facility for the guests. The full-fledged building is expected to be completed in two years.
Deputy speaker N Yogish Bhat, Coastal Development Authority chaiman B Nagaraj Shetty, zilla panchayat president K T Shailaja Bhat and L Ravi among others were present.
