Dammam, Jun 15: A four-national Asian Premier League cricket tournament will be organized on Friday June 17, at Rakha Grounds in Dammam. Teams from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will play at the event in 10-over matches.
The first-ever tournament of its kind, the 'Riyaz Ahmed Memorial Trophy - 2011' as it is called, has been sponsored by Salahuddin Salman of Saleh Ayed Balharith Est - Al Khobar. After a series of round robin matches, two teams will enter the finals.
The teams will be selected on the basis of their performance in the Dammam Cricket Association and Asian XI League matches for the year 2010-2011. In each team 16 probables will be selected and the playing XI will be chosen before the match.
The tournament will be organized and conducted under the chairmanship of Mohammed Noor of Asia XI. Sponsor and captain of Indian XI M L Salahuddin Salman, has requested all community members and cricket fans to attend, enjoy the matches and support the tournament.
Winners, runners-up, individual players and organizers will be awarded on the same day.
