Kaup, Feb 15: There's a twist to the accident tale involving the death of a young woman on Monday night along NH 66 at Katapadi Moodabettu near Kambalakatta who was riding pillion on a scooter. It has come to light that a Mangaluru-bound bus had hit the scooter in which the woman was riding pillion resulting in the accident and the death of the woman, as per a complaint filed with the police by the scooter rider.
The deceased has been identified as Roshni D'Souza (26), a resident of Jeppu Patla, who was working as a lab technologist in Father Muller Medical College in Mangaluru. Roshni was engaged to Joel D'Costa. Both of them had paid a visit to Kalmady church in Udupi and were on their way back to Mangaluru on the scooter when this accident occurred.

Roshni, who was riding pillion, was seriously injured in the accident and died while she was being taken to a hospital. Joel who was riding the scooter escaped unhurt with minor injuries.
A Mangaluru-bound bus changed its lane on the highway and moved to the right all of a sudden when it hit Roshni's leg who was riding pillion on a scooter resulting in this accident.
As the bus hit Roshni's leg, Joel lost control of the scooter that he was riding before hitting a barricade and the vehicle turned turtle.
The pillion rider rolled over onto the road and suffered grievous injury which proved fatal, as per the complaint filed by Joel D'Costa with the Kaup police.
