Mangaluru, Jan 20: Tulunaada Maanikya Arvind Bolar, the well-known actor, has been selected for Bharath Social Welfare Trust (BSWT) 'Person of the Year’ award. Bolar is one of the very famous actors of Tulu drama, films and Yakshagana. He has acted in Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam and Byari language films and television series.
He was born at Bolar, Mangaluru to Krishnappa and Sundari and entered the cultural sector as a Tulu drama actor. Bolar has left a mark with his comic timing and punching dialogues. He has received Kannada Rajyotsava award, Sadhane Sharadar and Tuluva Manikya awards.
In addition, Bolar responded to the pains of people by portraying such characters on screen. It was beneficial during the coronavirus lockdown which opened the eyes of the society. BSWT has selected him for the award considering his social commitment.
Bolar has entertained one and all along with Walter Nandalike in Daijiworld TV’s ‘Private Challenge’ programme. The much watched TV show which ran for two seasons had become of the talk of the town as it delivered wholesome entertainment with wonderful social messages.
BSWT has conducted social works in education, health and employment during the last eight years and provided scholarships to 150 poor students in Karnataka every year. This year’s scholarship distribution programme will be held at Sahodaya auditorium, Balmatta, Mangaluru on January 26 at 3 pm. “Arvind Bolar will be felicitated as the ‘Person of the Year’ during the programme,” stated trust chief secretary Akif Engineer in a press release.
