Puttur, Jan 18: The Puttur rural police arrested have Umesh (24), son of Angara, a resident of Mugeru Mane, Kanakamajalu village of Sullia in the case of stabbing to death Jayashree (23), daughter of late Guruva, a relative of the accused.
On the morning of January 17 at around 11.30 am, when the deceased Jayashree was alone at home, accused Umesh barged inside and stabbed her. Though she was rushed to a hospital, she died on the way.
According to the complaint filed by Girija (43), mother of the deceased, accused Umesh was in love with deceased Jayashree from some time and he used to visit the house of the deceased every now and then. However, Jayashree was not interested in him and she had told this to Umesh clearly in November 2022. Angered by the refusal of his love proposal, accused Umesh stabbed deceased Jayashree to death.
Accused Umesh was arrested on the morning of January 18 by a team of police led by Puttur rural CI Ravi B S and a scooter and knife used in the act confiscated.
