Mangaluru, Jan 18: Multi-faceted, Birse of Yakshagana art, Prashant C K has been selected for the Sri Kundeshwar Samman award, that is conferred by Karkala Higana Kshetra every year. He is also the assistant programme director at Daijiworld.
The award will be conferred on Prashant during Sri Kundeshwara fair which will be held on January 21.
Prashant, who is a comedian in professional Yakshagana troupe, has written many Yakshagana Prasangas and Tulu dramas. He has also acted in the movie Kantara, which created a sensation in Indian cinema. At present he is donning a very important role in Vadana, an art movie based on Yakshagana.
Prashant acted as a Daiva Pathradari in national award winning movie Pingara. He is also acting and directing comedy serials on TV channels. Cultural programme convener Jeethendra Kundeshwara said that Prashant is a rare gem in the Tulu art field. He has been selected based on his talent.
At 7 pm on Saturday, January 21, Hiranyaksha and Hiranya Kashipu Tulu and Kannada Yakshagana will be presented by renowned artistes. A Tulu drama depicting the divine power of Mayadappe will also be performed. On January 22, during the annual fair, Nemotsava will be held and food served, said trustee Krishna Rajendra Bhat.
