Mangaluru, Jan 14: Starting April, passengers from Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) will have to pay an additional amount as user development fee (UDF). The MIA, which will be managed by the Adani Group till October 2070, had approached Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) seeking a revision in the user development fee for travellers using the airport, media sources say.
AERA has ratified the plea by MIA for the upward revision in fares, media reports said.
Presently, UDF is levied on passengers who are departing from the airport. Come February, passengers arriving at the MIA will also have to pay up the UDF.
The UDF for domestic travellers is Rs 150 and Rs 825 for international travellers.
Starting April, domestic travellers will also have to pay Rs 560 towards UDF. This fee will go up further to Rs 700 from April 2024 and to Rs 735 from April 2025. Similarly, international travellers will have to pay Rs 1,015 from April which will go up to Rs 1,120 from April 2025.
For the first time, domestic passengers arriving at MIA will have to pay an UDF of Rs 150 from April 2023 which will further go up to Rs 240 from April 2024 and Rs 315 from April 2025.
International travellers arriving at MIA will have to pay Rs 330 as UDF between February and March of this year which will be hiked to Rs 435 from April 2023 till March 2024 and further to Rs 480 after April 2025, according to media reports.
The Adani Group, which is managing the Ahmedabad airport as well, has sought an increase in UDF there and is awaiting approval from the Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India.
The Adani Group is also managing major airports in the country such as Mumbai, Lucknow, Jaipur, Thiruvanathapuram and Guwahati.
