Kasargod, Jan 11: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detected the presence of active sleeper cells belonging to Islamic State (IS) and Al Qaeda terror outfits in Kerala.
In Kerala, IS has a telegram channel in Malayalam. It was suspected in the past that the channel was handled by a terror outfit and the NIA sleuths have begun investigation into their role.
In Kerala, the primary purpose of IS is to create communal violence and the telegram channel has been started to fulfil this objective. The channel aims to galvanise all its supporters to create unrest and violence in society all over the country. As per information available a sleeper cell was established keeping this purpose in mind.
Besides, another terror outfit Al Qaeda has also established a sleeper cell to maintain close ties with miscreants and terror elements. It is said that Al Qaeda has close ties with Turkey Foundation for Human Rights and Humanitarian Relief. With the cooperation of all these outfits, NIA has unearthed the presence of sleeper cells that are working silently in Kerala.
