Mangaluru, Jan 8: In the coastal region, generally a special pooja and lunch is served on the day of Shraddha, an annual ceremony in which oblations are given to a dead ancestor in the family. However, a litterateur of Moodbidri paid tribute to this father in a unique way by holding a poetry recital.
Aravinda Chokkadi, teacher, litterateur and columnist, held a poetry recital programme in memory of his late father which had more than 40 poets talomg part in it.
He also gave alms to the participants that included Rs 101 to each and every poet in the programme along with rose plants.
After the poetry recital all of them sat together to have lunch cutting all barriers of caste, creed and religion. On the whole, the Shraddha ritual was held in a unique manner.
Chokkadi expressed his love for the Kannada language through this programme in which his father’s memory was also etched in the minds of people because of the unique way in which it was held.
