Karkala, Jan 8: A pedestrian was robbed of his cash and golden ornaments by two men in a vehicle, who approached him on the pretext of dropping him till the bus stand.
The victim is a resident of Renjala Kadambakkar and runs a bakery business in Bengaluru. He had come to his native place for some religious programme. On the night of January 5, he had left his home at Renjala and gone to a bar as there was time for his bus to leave for Bengaluru.
After consuming liquor, the victim was walking towards the bus stand, when two men, who were passing by in a vehicle, approached him and asked where he was going. When the victim said that he was going towards the bus stand, they said that they would drop him and robbed him of the golden ornaments on his body as well as cash.
By the time the victim regained his consciousness from the inebriated state his golden chain weighing 40 grams, two finger rings, Rs 1500 cash and mobile phone were looted by the strangers. The total value of the robbed goods is said to be Rs 1.52 lacs.
A case is registered at Karkala police station.
