Thane, May 29 (PTI) A minor girl was allegedly raped and killed by a 68-year-old man in the posh Vasant Vihar area here, police said today.
The 14-year-old victim had substituted her mother as domestic help at the house of the accused Vikram Dashra yesterday, when the latter, who was alone, allegedly forced himself on the girl, they said.
Fearing that the girl may narrate the incident to her family members, Dashra allegedly strangulated her and threw her body outside his flat on the seventh floor, police said.
After his neighbours raised a hue, the accused took the girl to a nearby hospital where doctors refused to admit her, police said.
He then took her to the Thane Civil hospital, where she was declared brought dead, they said.
Based on a complaint filed by the victim's mother, Dashra was arrested, police said, adding that further investigations are on.
