Beltangady, Jan 5: Venoor police detected illegal cattle transportation in a van on Wednesday January 4 at Nadayi of Badaga Karandoor and arrested five people in this connection. Five cows were rescued.
The accused arrested are Tausif (32), Irfan (25), Anas (23), all residents of Janata Colony in Karaya, Usman (55), a resident of Manila Mane of Puttila village and Iqbal (34), a resident of Bajathoor in Valalu village of Puttur taluk.
Many complaints were received about cow transportation at Aladangadi vicinity. Venoor SI Sowmya, ASI Venkatesh, personnel Abijit, Prashant, Rajesh, Sachin, Hanumanth, Trimurthy and team were conducting night patrol. They noticed a two-wheeler with two men looking suspiciously at them.
On inquiry, they came to know about a van following the scooter in which five cows were stuffed in an inhumane manner. In the van, there were three people. All five were arrested by the police. Five cows were rescued in the process.
