Panaji: Cong Corporators in Panaji to Quit Over Garbage Issue

Panaji, May 27 (PTI) The civic body of the state capital is expecting a small political rebellion tomorrow as the ruling party corporators have decided to quit en-mass, condemning the Congress-led Goa government for failing to sort out the garbage disposal problem.

The 16 (out of total 30) Congress corporators, including Mayor Yatin Parekh, supported by Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte, have threatened to put down papers on Saturday May 29.

Monserratte told PTI that they had to resort to this protest, as "state government is not sensitive towards solving the garbage issue of Panaji city".

"The capital city is stinking as garbage has not been collected for the last five days in the absence of proper site to dump it," he said.
