Beltangady, Dec 28: Mortal remains of Janardhana Gowda (42), son of Gummanna Gowda, resident of Danduga in Mogru village, who drowned in Netravati river while tying a fishing net was found on Tuesday December 27.
On Monday, Janardhana fell into the river while he was tying the net in order to catch fish near Mugeradka where bridge work is going on. Mahesh who had accompanied Janardhana did not inform the matter to anyone and went straight to Padmunja, had liquor in bar and then informed the matter to relatives and friends of Janardhana. Initially, Mahesh was manhandled by the people, but then asked to show the spot where Janardhana drowned.
Fire service personnel and locals tried to fish out the mortal remains of Janardhana on the night of Monday itself. However, the body was found on Tuesday.
Janardhan used to do dairy farming and work as daily wage labourer. He was the pillar of his family. He is survived by wife and two daughters.
Mortal remains of Janardhan were sent to Deralakatte hospital in Mangaluru for post mortem. MLA Harish Poonja visited the spot and consoled the family of deceased.
