New York, May 21 (IANS/WAM) UAE Minister for Labour Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash has said reduction of the cost of labour mobility across national borders represents the most important aspect of the rational management of the cycle of contractual work.

Such a step can be undertaken either through self-initiatives by governments or through joint cooperative initiatives, he added.

This will also contribute to maximize the benefits of the various parties concerned in this regard, he said.

The minister was addressing the informal thematic debate on International Migration and Development at UN headquarters in New York.

He said that the most important successes achieved by the International Forum on Migration and Development was its highlighting of the consequences of the high cost incurred by the workers under contract while relocating to new destinations from their home countries.

The high cost incurred by the temporary worker has a negative impact on his earnings and the stability of his family, the minister said.
