Udupi, Dec 5: An elderly person of Bengaluru origin, who suffers from memory loss, was rescued by Padubidri police and handed him over to his son.
Srinivasa (69) had left Bengaluru on December 3 and was found loitering on road roadside at Hejmady. Police brought him to the police station as the public informed them of the elderly man walking on road side.
Srinivasa had boarded a bus from Majestic in Bengaluru and got down at Udupi on the night of Saturday. Later he boarded some other bus and reached Hejmady.
On persistent consoling by the police, Srinivasa said the name of his son as Sripathi and also gave his mobile number.
Meanwhile, Sripathi, son of Srinivasa had called his father on the night of Saturday. As Srinivasa did not respond properly, Sripathi asked his father to give the mobile to the co passenger and came to know that his father has boarded the bus going to Udupi.
Sripathi had come in bike to Udupi on the night of Saturday itself and was searching for his father in Udupi.
The police, who contacted Sripathi as Srinivasa gave his number, asked Sripathi to come to Padubidri police station and handed him over to Sripathi. The cops also returned the cash that was with elderly Srinivasa. In the midst of all these chaos, Srinivasa had lost his mobile phone. He is a retired employee of BSNL.
