Armaan Disappoints at Magny-Cours Race

Magny-Cours (France), May 16 (IANS) Armaan Ebrahim failed to win himself an advance birthday gift following a disappointing weekend in the Formula 2 races here.

Armaan, who will be 22 on May 17, finished 12th in the first race while his second race ended at the first corner when hit from behind as he failed to pick up any championship points from the two rounds run.

The Chennai youngster, sponsored by JK Tyre, Amaron, Cornerstone Sports & Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Trimex, looked to be on pace going into the weekend, but he qualified 17th after a spin on his flying lap ahead of the first race and 15th for the next.

"I would like to forget this weekend if I could. In Qualifying 1, there were some handling issues and I spun as well. In the first race, I made places to move into 10th, but lost two positions under braking and I held on to my 12th position.

"In Qualifying on Sunday, I thought I looked good for the race though I was struggling at the two high speed corners, and qualified 15th, but I got hit at the first hairpin corner and that was it for me," said Armaan.

The third and fourth round of the series will be held June 24-26 at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium.
