Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore
Bangalore, May 15: In a breaking news received from Bangalore by daijiworld, it has been informed that Karnataka state governor H R Bhardwaj has sent an important report to the central government through his envoy Tiwari to New Delhi.
Tiwari is schedule to leave for New Delhi by Sunday May 15 late evening flight.
It is gathered that the governor has recommended the suspension of state legislative assembly to the central government after the high drama in Delhi and Bangalore following the May 13 verdict when 11 BJP MLAs and 5 independent MLAs were reinstitued by the Supreme Court.
In the letter, the governor has stated that Yeddyurappa and speaker K G Bopaiah had manipulated the Constitutional provisions during the last trust vote, and therefore the support of the 10 BJP MLAs cannot be taken into consideration. Bhardwaj has also mentioned that there has been rampant corruption in the state.
It will be interesting to see how the central government responds to this issue.
Meanwhile, 10 out of 11 BJP MLAs who won the court battle have sent a letter to Bharadwaj pledging thier support to the government and to the leadership of CM Yeddyurappa. One BJP MLA Shankaralinge Gowda has not signed the letter and reportedly is still unhappy with the CM, but he is fighting for his cause staying within the BJP. But unconfirmed reports from CM sources say that the CM is now willing to include Shankalenge Gowda in his cabinet in his next ministry expansion.
Later in the evening, V Dhananjay Kumar, BJP spokesperson and state representative to centre, addressing a press conference said that he has submitted a letter of support from 10 BJP MLAs. He also confirmed that the governor has accepted the letter.
The governor allowed only 6 out of the 11 MLAs to meet him. There was chaos for sometimes outside the Raj Bhavan for denying an appointment with the governor for the rest of the MLAs.
Soon after the Raj Bhavan visit, all 10 MLAs along with some cabinet ministers left for the CM's residence to show their solidarity with B S Yeddyurappa's regime.
Hearing the news of the governor's letter to the centre, CM Yeddyurappa has countered the development by sending a letter to the President of India, Prime Minister and the home minister stating that everything is fine with the state government, and there is no political instability in the state. He has reportedly mentioned in the letter that out of the 224-member legislative assembly, he has the support of 127 MLAs. Yeddyurappa also announced that he would call an emergency meeting of his cabinet on Monday May 15 to review the situation.
