Panjim, May 11: Home Minister Ravi S Naik launched "Sheshnaga" Marine Commando Squad at the Captain of Ports Jetty here on Wednesday May 11.
Marine Commandos crossed Mandovi river from Betim jetty to the captain of Ports Jetty in the presence of the Home Minister Shri Naik, Director General of Police Bhim Sain Bassi, DIG Ravindra Yadav and other senior officers of the Goa Police.
Speaking on the occasion Naik complimented the Goa Police force for their good work. He said that the Marine police force is effectively policing our coast and the marine commandos will be an added support to tackle with any eventualities at sea. The Commandoes will be further training to make them perfect in their job.
Director General of Police Bhim Sain Bassi said that Goa Police are second to none and they are capable to handle even Mumbai type action. He said the commandos will be given more lessons in Commando war fare and next time they will swim with their full uniform and equipments.
There are presently 10 male Police constables have been inducted in the Marine Commando Squad. They were presented certificates on the occasion at the hands of the Home Minister.
