Moodbidri, Nov 4: A car driver died in a hospital following a road accident on Wednesday November 2 midnight.
The deceased is identified as Rajesh Acharya (39), a native of Karkala. The car that he was driving hit a school bus on the national highway 169 near Basavanakaje in Alangar in the evening on Wednesday. Following the accident, Rajesh Acharya was seriously injured and was admitted to a hospital where he could not respond to the treatment.
Rajesh was driving from Karkala and his vehicle hit a school bus of Alangar's St Thomas English School and both the vehicles were damaged. School children escaped unhurt with minor injuries.
Another passenger who was travelling in the car with Rajesh suffered serious injury and is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
The deceased Rajesh Acharya was a wooden sculptor and had made chariots for temples in Kodyadka, Polali and Kateelu. He was the son of Appu Acharya. Rajesh was involved in a car tourist business. This accident occurred when he was returning from his parents’ house. He is survived by his wife and a 14-year-old daughter. Rajesh Acharya was living in Attavara in Mangaluru where he had built a home of his own, it is learnt.
