Mangaluru, Oct 29: Former minister B Ramanath Rai slammed BJP leaders for criticising Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Addressing a press meet at Congress Bhavan on Saturday October 29, Rai said, "Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra witnessed success in our state and other states too. The yatra has got good support from the people of the state and the country. The Yatra, after witnessing success in several states, has now entered Telangana."
The yatra is organized to unite the hearts of people irrespective of caste and religion and to bring harmony in the country against the politics of hatred, he added.
Taking a dig at Sangh Parivar for holding a torchlight procession during the previous day of Independence with the concept of Akanda Bharath, Rai said, “There are several countries that got separated from Akanada Bharat. Let them hold torchlight processions in those countries.”
He further said, “Bharath Jodo Yatra is organised against the communal divide. During the Yatra, Rahul Gandhi interacted with the farmers and people from the suppressed classes.”
He also alleged that after BJP organised the Rath Yatra in the country, bloodshed had taken place. He added that the court has ordered to book suo motu case against those who deliver hate speeches. “Primarily, it should be implemented in our district,” he said.
Rai also slammed BJP leader C T Ravi for commenting against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and said, "C T Ravi is not even old as Kharge's political experience.”
He also said that the Congress will come to power in the state as well as in the district.
