Udupi, Oct 28: The police here have issued a warning to commercial sex workers who were trying to attract customers at the service bus station and at the old KSRTC bus station.
The police acted on repeated complaints that they have been getting from the public against the continuing flesh trade in public places. It is said that thousands of labourers and workers frequent this area and it is a busy public area. Despite being warned against continuing such activities the flesh trade has continued unabated in prominent public places.
A few private hotels also provide rooms to the commercial sex workers at concessional rates and share commissions in the trade. Against the backdrop of information available with the police and the complaints received, the police chased away the sex workers and warned them against containing their activity.
The sex workers ran helter-skelter when they saw a police vehicle coming towards them. Police said they issued a warning to the commercial sex workers based on the complaints received from the public.
