Dubai, May 2: “It is indeed an honour for me to celebrate Easter with my fellow parishioners residing in the Emirates. In my last seven years of service in Kanajar parish, LKAE members have been celebrating occasions with their loved ones back home and I am really touched by this unstinted love towards your homeland. I am proud of you all, said Fr. Alwyn.
Over 120 Lourdes Kanajar members & their families came together to celebrate the joyous occasion of Easter at Dubai’s Al-Mas Hotel here, recently.
The programme started with Fr Alwyn D’Cunha invoking God’s blessings and Hilda D’Souza reading prayers of the faithful. A well-known singer cum presenter Dony Correa called on LKAE president Joy D’Souza to escort the guests onto the dais, mainly Jossy Mathias of Merit Freight Systems, John Menezes and Frank Lobo of Galaxy Star Electromechanical Works and the chief guest Fr Alwyn D’Cunha.
President in his welcome speech thanked everyone for accepting LKAEs invitation and briefed on the recent development activities of the association. Stan D’Souza introduced the chief guest and Thomas Saldanha presented a slide show on LKAE’s key achievements in the last 10 years. LKAE former member Aloysius D’Souza had specially flown in from Doha-Qatar to attend the function. Fr Alwyn D’Cunha acknowledged the efforts of LKAE and wished further success in its future endeavours. Elsie Lobo proposed the vote of thanks.
A comedy skit was presented by LKAE yuva team Dalia Saldanha, Steve D’Souza, Johan Saldanha, Shaun D’Souza and Vian Barboza. Lenita, Dalia and Chams presented dance numbers to the tunes of popular bollywood songs. It was a fun-filled evening with lots of spot prizes, games, and rib-tickling jokes in kannada and konkani.
The singing sensation duo Donny & Asha Correa presented few foot-tapping numbers and kept the entertainment quotient at its peak throughout the evening.
A delicious dinner was served at 11.00 pm prepared by Canara Restaurant. After the housie game, there was a brief felicitation program for 10 new members and Fr Alwyn D’Cunha presented them with a flower bouquet. The programme was ably conducted by Donny Correa.
