Mangaluru, Oct 2: Former Justice (retired) of the Bombay High Court and Karnataka High Court, Justice Michael Saldanha inaugurated ‘Civic grievance portal’ an visionary initiative by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Dakshina Kannada district here at Bejai church hall on Sunday, October 2.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Michael Saldanha said, “The civic grievance portal in the district from Aam Aadmi Party will bring about changes and same thing will continue in other parts of the country as well. People are fed up of the recent developments taking place. Roads in Mangaluru have turned pathetic which are impossible to drive on. The money has been poured into Pumpwell flyover which was submerged during monsoon. How can we even tolerate this? Whose money been spent for that project which is completely in a mess? It’s a matter of shame.”
He said, “Every election is a matter of fraud. Election Commission has appointed a few who are good for nothing. Two months prior to the elections, political parties put their lungs out for campaigning. During the ballot system there was some genuineness. Now, the gadgets of EVM are kept in a room after elections where you get enough time to manipulate it and until results are announced,” said Saldanha
Senior party member and national council member AAP Ashok Yedamale said, “AAP is slowly gaining momentum in the country. AAP came to power in Punjab and Delhi. Our next aim is Gujarat election. AAP is also stepping into Karnataka state. AAP has led by example with its governance in Punjab and Delhi which turned out to be a model government. The party will burgeon across the country.”
The scope of the portal will cover the entire jurisdiction of Mangaluru City Corporation (all 60 wards). Any citizen of Mangaluru can register his grievance or post photos and videos of issues faced by the public of that ward on this portal. The district team of AAP will take up the issue and help the citizens solve their problems in consultation with the respective authorities in MCC, said Sri Venugopal Puchupadi, the general secretary of AAP DK and the man behind this unique portal.
If necessary, AAP will also give representation before the administration and fight for the rights of the citizens.
The Aam Aadmi Party is known for its belief in the Swarajya Model of governance. Hence, the portal is being launched on Gandhi Jayanti Day to signify our commitment to take governance closer to the people. This portal is being set up mainly because elected representatives like MPs, MLAs, and Corporators are not listening to the voice of the people.
Though the Mangaluru City Corporation has introduced the system of Ward Committees to encourage greater interaction and involvement between the citizens and their elected representatives, these committees are not functioning satisfactorily. MCC’s own grievance portals, such as Janahitha, are also not effective.
Under the able leadership of National Convener Arvind Kejriwal, AAP has been successfully delivering quality education, quality health services and corruption-free governance in Delhi and Punjab and is making inroads in every state of India. We urge all the citizens to join hands with the APP DK District branch and take Mangaluru on the path of progress.
Meanwhile. AAP honoured probable candidate Vijaynath Vittal Shetty from Moodabdiri and Vishu Kumar from Puttur in the upcoming general election.
Prasad Bajilakeri welcomed the gathering and Delen Lobo compered the event.
AAP District President Santosh Kamath, District General Secretary Venugopala Puchhappady, Women's Wing President, Benet Navitha Moras, State joint secretary and Karavali zone incharge Vivekananda Salian, AAP District Media/Social Media POC Venkatesh Baliga, Desmond were also present.
