Panaji, Apr 28: Goa government has agreed to hand over the case related to Israeli drug lord David Driham alias Dudu to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
 
State’s Advocate General Subodh Kantak told the division bench of Bombay High Court at Goa that the state will issue notification to hand over the case related to Driham in seven days.
 
Congress’ frontal students union – Nationalist Students Union of India (NSUI), in the petition filed before the High court had demanded that the case be handed over to CBI as officer investigating it was himself under the cloud of suspicion.
 
The advocate General told the court that "the state of Goa will issue necessary notification under section 6 of the Delhi Police Establishment Act entrusting the CBI to take over the Dudu case investigation."
 
The bench adjourned the matter to May 4 after the State sought time to submit the notification copy to the Court, as well.
 
This is the third case related to drugs to be handed over to CBI by the state government. Earlier, two cases related to Policemen-drug paddler nexus were handed over to the central agency after NSUI went to the court.
 
NSUI had pleaded that the investigations into these matters should be shouldered by local police as suspicion is raised on their own conduct.
 
Seven policemen were arrested for their alleged involvement with the drug paddler, Yaniv Benaim alias Atala while another Police sub inspector Sunil Guddler was suspended when he was found hobnobbing with Driham’s family members.
