Udupi: District Policemen Get Two More Interceptors

Udupi, Apr 28: Two more interceptor (Tata Winger) vehicles equipped with various equipments that were sanctioned to the district, were dedicated to the service of the people on Wednesday April 27. Regional transport officer, H N Ramesh, who unveiled these vehicles, handed over their keys to additional superintendent of police, M V Venkateshappa.

Venkateshappa said that the interceptors will help the policemen to take legal action against those who violate road rules, and to make roads safer for the vehicle users and others by stopping violation of road rules.

These vehicles have been equipped with modern equipments like Alco metres, which enable the policemen to detect drunken driving, finding out the speed of the vehicle and fine the driver on the spot, and to give safety tips to the people as per the demands of the situation through micro phones. Video recording facility even during the night, cameras, laptops etc also have been provided to these vehicles.

The district already has one inceptor. Deputy superintendent of police, Jayant Shetty, circle inspector, Girish, and various other officials from different police contingents, were present.
