Mangalore: Weeklong Konkani Talent Camp Begins at Mandd Sobhann

Mangalore, Apr 27: “There are several Konkani organizations, but among them Mandd Sobhann is the one that does yeomen service with total integrity. This is exemplified in their organization of a weeklong residential talent camp for children to exhibit their talents,” said Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Kundapur Narayan Kharvi.

He was speaking after inaugurating a week-long Konkani talent camp for children organized by Mandd Sobhann at Kalaangann. The camp which began on Monday April 25 will conclude on Sunday May 1.

Kharvi urged the children to learn the various forms of Konkani culture at the talent camp and practice it in their homes, since the responsibility of sustaining Konkani talent lies with them.

The talent camp was uniquely inaugurated with a song by Prerana Pronteiro, acting by Roshni Goveas, and dance by Slifa Pinto on the occasion.

Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario is the camp director who also provided information on the camp.

The resource persons – John Permannur, Merula Gibson, Dillon Caldeira, and Rony Crasta were present on the dais.

Stany Alvares compered the programme. The talent camp will be held for Konkani students studying in Class VII to Class X from Monday April 25 to Sunday May 1.

The training will be given to children in dance, singing, and acting and the camp participants will have an opportunity to partake in the 113th monthly theatre ‘Bhurgyale Sobhann’ on Sunday May 1.
